Origin of the name

There is one argument contained in the sound of the word "Akhal". It is the Akhalteke, divine miraculous horses which genes served as a basis for the best racing breeds of the world. Valleys protected from the cold winter winds, grasses of mountainous meadows unfading in summer, watering in springs and rivulets everywhere — the aforesaid is an integral part of the landscape of Kese-Arkach (the former name of Akhal). But Akhal was first mentioned in references only in 1805, and is associated with the Tekkes' advent there. Hence, the later name of the unique breed of Turkmen horses — Akhalteke.
